DISCOVER TODI

And Its Surroundings

Umbria, with its various landscapes, is the ideal destination to immerse yourself in the most charming nature.

Todi

Santa Maria della Consolazione: The Temple is located at the foot of Todi, its origins date back to Bramante who probably intervened in the design of this imposing church whose work began in 158  until 1607. Its construction dates back to a miraculous event according to which the image of the Madonna and Child made a worker’s eye heal and, thanks to that episode, it was decided to dedicate the church to the Madonna.
In Renaissance style, the façade owes its beauty and majesty to the large 5 domes. The church is 70 meters high.
The interior, large and harmonious, has a Greek-cross plan illuminated by 56 windows arranged in a circle.

The Duomo: This building dating back to the 11th century, is dedicated to Santa Maria Annunziata and was probably built on an ancient pagan temple. The  sixteenth-century façade has three portals corresponding to the internal aisles.
A magnificent rose window stands  above the central door.
The interior is on the plant of a Latin cross: the ceiling is composed of wooden beams, the 10 columns are surmounted by capitals with acanthus leaves.
Under the rose window you can see the grandiose “Last Judgment by Ferraù da Faenza”, inspired by the work of Michelangelo.

Collevalenza e il Santuario dell’Amore Misericordioso

TheHotel Europalace is located a few km from Collevalenza, a village in the municipality of Todi well known for the Santuario dell’Amore Misericordioso, whose construction was made possible by Maria Giuseppa Alhama Valera, better known as “Madre Speranza”.

Arrived in Collevalenza on 18 Agosto 1951 she began to carry out this project which represented for her the will of God, to whom she dedicated her entire life.

– In February 1957 Madre Speranza established a new Branch of the Female Congregation, “Le Ancelle dell’Amore Misericordioso”.
– In 1960, she had a well 122 meters deep, in the Sanctuary dug, whose water, found only after innumerable and inexplicable inconveniences, will be destined to feed the Pools, whose presence together with the beneficial and miraculous effects has made Collevalenza a small Italian “Lourdes”.
